Moving? - Try our Moving Packing List

Before using the moving packing list, we would advise that you develop a ‘plan of attack’ that you will use when moving (I recommend looking at our packing planner for ideas on where to start).

Moving is known to be a highly stressful experience. Take a look at our moving tips page for advice and guidance on how to get the best results for your move. Further to this, see our moving packing list tips below for a few ideas to start with.

Tip 1: Have a plan! ‘All journeys start with a single step’ – make sure that the step is a planned step. Try our Moving List Planner for ideas on where to start.

Tip 2: Keep your moving packing list supplies (eg. markers, tape, newspapers, etc.) nearby and have sufficient quantities.

Tip 3: Keep a separate sheet with a box record of all items. Assign each box a number and then label the boxes with the number from the sheet (this simplifies the process and makes it easy to retrieve the correct box first time). Also show, with an arrow, which side is up on the box.

Tip 4: Mark all boxes that are fragile – clearly. Make sure they are loaded last.

Tip 5: Use the correct lifting techniques when loading to avoid back sprains and injury.

Tip 6: Don’t over- or under-pack. Boxes will be crushed or force open if not packed correctly.
